Its Trevor Time!!!
Today before the Padres-Marlins game the Padres and there fans celebrated Trevor Hoffman as they retired his number. The number 51 will never be worn by a Padre ever again and the number was placed on the batters eye in center field with the 6 of Steve Garvey, the 19 of Tony Gwynn, the 31 of Dave Winfield, the 34 of Randy Jones, and the 42 of Jackie Robinson which is retired from baseball. It was a very nice and emotional ceremony which included Garvey, Gwynn, Jones, Winfield, the Padres staff, and the Hoffman family. Hoffman also recieved a golden rubber which was given to him when he got his 500th save but this time it was ingraved with the number 601 which is how many career saves he had. That wasn't all, he also recieved a mint condition 1958 Cadillac Convertible. The ceremony ended with a tribute to his dad with a video of him singing the national anthem at Fenway Park on opening day of 1981. It was a great ceremony that I really enjoyed. After the ceremony the game started and we will find out if the Padres can bring the brooms out and sweep the Marlins.
