Last night the Padres faced off against the Marlins at Petco and the Pads wasted no time as Jesus Guzman hit a 2 run triple in the bottom of the 1st and then a Logan Forsythe Sac Fly made it 3-0. After that the Padres never looked back as Tim Stauffer was great only giving up one mistake and that was in the top of the 7th when John Buck stepped to the plate and hit a solo shot 447 feet over the left center wall. The Padres improve to 56-70 and 25-38 at home. The winning pitcher was Tim Stauffer who improved to 8-9. The loss goes to Javier Vasquez who is now 7-11. Luke Gregerson came in in the 8th inning and got his 11th hold. Heath Bell ended everything on a good note with a 1-2-3 9th to record his 33rd save of the 2011 campain.
The Pads will try to make it 2 straight against the Marlins as they send Wade Leblac (1-2 4.54 ERA) to the mound against Chris Volstad (5-9 5.60 ERA).
